I Had Myself A Think And Thought…

Is there any demand for prints/originals of my art out there? I just missed the Boston Comic Con this year which is the show I usually attend with my brother. We usually sell prints and do commissions on the spot, but this year we considered focusing our time/money/energy on big plans we have for late this year and next year. This was the first one I’ve missed in three years and it kinda bummed me out a little to do so.

My question to YOU is would there be anyone out there who would like to buy any prints of my work? Should I set up a new store online to sell them and are there any recommendations on which seller friendly sites I should use? (yes I realize that was more than one question haha)

Let me know your thoughts in a response or question in my ask section. I’d really appreciate it!

Thanks for your time!

Love being a contributor to this series for this reason. The elephant sketchbook will always be part of the whole collection and therefore I am a part of it. :D

It absolutely kills me that I have every Eat Sleep Draw sketchbook, but I haven’t had the time to draw a single thing in them. (Taken with instagram)

R.I.P. Jean Giraud

Jean Giraud, better known as Moebius, died a few days ago at 73 after a long illness. The frenchman had a 50+ year career of drawing some of the most mind-bending, poetic, and philosophical comic books ever seen on this planet. His highly detailed, yet incredibly graceful style was unmatched in the world of comics and illustration. About seven years ago, my brother introduced me to his work. We both became obsessed with his comics, which led to us searching endlessly for anything he had created. We mostly found his comics buried in old long boxes at conventions and sold for discount prices. Each short comic found in an old issue of Heavy Metal was a treasure. Every small collection of Arzach was a prize.

I won’t get into the philosophical aspects of his comics. That is way too broad of a topic to sum up in a blog post. I will say that his work was a huge influence on the way I experience comics and create them. His disregard for the typical rules and regulations of comics (American comics be damned) taught me that you can make art that is non-conforming, but elegant and well-crafted at the same time. Tony Moore (The Walking Dead) said it best today when he said he thought Moebius was a force of nature. He didn’t seem like he was a mere mortal like the rest of us which is why I believe Jean Giraud is dead, but Moebius will live on.

Designer Code

You give me a design brief and payment. I give you a plausible deadline. Any revisions need to be made before that deadline is up and I’m yours. No matter what. Anything happens a minute on either side of that deadline and you’re on your own. I don’t work without a payment upfront. I don’t do rip offs. I design.
